Exciting news from our Penang office! Halim Hong & Quek Launches “Investing in Malaysia Manufacturing – The Legal and Tax Aspects”

By user on July 5, 2024

We are pleased to announce the grand launch of our latest initiative, “Investing in Malaysia Manufacturing – The Legal and Tax Aspects,” at the G Hotel Gurney in Pulau Pinang. This remarkable event, held in collaboration with China Construction Bank, served as a vibrant platform for insightful discussions on “Positioning Northern Corridor as a Regional Hub.”

The launch was honored by the presence of key industry figures, including HHQ Managing Partner Dato’ Quek Ngee Meng, InvestPenang CEO Dato’ Loo Lee Lian, MIDA Penang Deputy Director Ahmad Amri bin Hassim, Chinese Consul in Penang Zheng Fang, and China Construction Bank’s Deputy Director of Global Banking & Markets Sun Bo. Their contributions were invaluable in making the event a resounding success.

Dato’ Quek highlighted Northern Corridor’s potential as a regional powerhouse and the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030, emphasizing technology transfer, industrial upgrades, and job creation. The book covers Malaysia’s transformation policies, foreign investment, taxation, incentives, renewable energy, data centers, and key sectors like electronics, electric vehicles, healthcare, aerospace, chemicals, and logistics.

Dato’ Loo Lee Lian underscored Penang’s pivotal role as a sustainable investment hub, emphasizing initiatives like “Penang Silicon Design @5KM” aimed at enhancing IC design capabilities. She also discussed the sustainable development efforts of the Penang Silicon Island (PSI) project, aligned with global Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards.

The panel discussion, featuring Harold Tan, Partner of Harold and Lam Partnership, alongside Lo Khai Yi and Desmond Liew Zhi Hong, technology and tax partners of HHQ respectively, provided deep insights into optimizing Northern Corridor’s dynamic potential as a vibrant hub crucial for regional development.

Stay tuned as we continue to empower manufacturing investments and drive regional growth!
